Here are some of my favorite covers for September 2011: The Holding Things Edition

The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton
I like the depth of field in this one. The focus on the ring is really smart (and shiny)! I'm also a fan of the colors, the snow, and the font.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The cover of this one reminds me of one of those stop-motion animations that use paper or origami figures. I keep picturing it animate itself, crumpling down to leave and then reforming again as the circus. I can appreciate the whimsy of it. I also like the use of a simple font surrounded by fancy scrollwork.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Those of you who've followed this little series of posts know that I have a thing for underwater effects on covers, and this one is no exception. I love the soft image against the rougher darkness of the background in what appears to be a drowning rescue. It's both serene and eerie at the same time.
